This cocktail was invented in France, likely at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes (French Riviera). It became an instant hit in London. In 1922, Robert Vermeire from the Embassy Club published the first evidence of this recipe in the recipe book 'Cocktails - How to Mix Them.'

    What you need

    Ingredients

    Cocktails for:
    1 person
    • 45 ml
      Martell Noblige
    • 15 ml
      Triple sec
    • 10 ml
      Lemon juice
    • 10 ml
      Fresh pomegranate juice
    • 5 ml
      Red Italian bitters

    Instructions

    • 1Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
    • 2Pour all ingredients into the shaker.
    • 3Shake well until the metal gets frosted.
    • 4Strain into a coupe glass.
    • 5Twist a zest peel of your choice from the chosen flavours over the drink and when done discard the peel.

    Serving tips

    You will need a coupe glass and a cocktail shaker for this cocktail.

    Being served in a uncommon glass will bring some surprise as well. Double walled glasses will keep the cocktail colder for a longer time.
